Starovic: Serbs adamant not to allow the rule of illegitimate mayors
Nemanja Starovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, emphasized that the strong KFOR presence in municipalities with a Serbian majority in northern Kosovo had not prevented "police thugs from bursting tear gas against peaceful protesters."
Starovic wrote on Twitter that Serbs had gathered in large numbers this morning in front of the municipal headquarters in northern Kosovo – Zubin Potok, Zvecan, and Leposavic – adding that they are determined not to allow the rule of illegitimate Albanian mayors elected with only one to three percent of the votes.
"Large gathering of Serbs since morning in front of municipal seats in North Kosovo*. They are adamant not to allow the rule of illegitimate Albanian mayors elected with 1-3% of the vote," Starovic wrote.
He further stated the strong KFOR presence had not prevented police thugs from bursting gas against peaceful protesters, providing a link to the news in English regarding the deployment of large KFOR forces in Leposavic and Zubin Potok.
