State Department: Kosovo's decision to declare two organizations in the north as terrorist made without coordination with the US

The Government of Kosovo's decision to declare the "Civil Protection" and the "Northern Brigade" as terrorist organizations was not made in coordination with the United States and other international partners, according to the response from the State Department to Radio Free Europe.

"This decision should have been coordinated with Kosovo's closest international partners, including those who have the primary responsibility to ensure stability in Kosovo. Once again, we urge Kosovo to refrain from unilateral steps while we work with the parties to address the current crisis," the response states.

It is emphasized that the US condemns "the violence against KFOR forces" and that those behind it should be held accountable "by respecting due process and ensuring full transparency."

Yesterday, the Government of Kosovo declared the "Civil Protection" and the "Northern Brigade" as terrorist organizations, citing their involvement in unrest in northern Kosovo and their "serious and direct threat to the constitutional order and security of Kosovo."
