Stevanovic submitted Serbia's request for convening an emergency session of the UN Security Council

Ambassador of Serbia to the UN, Nemanja Stevanovic, submitted today the request of the Republic of Serbia for convening an emergency session of the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Kosovo.

Stevanovic submitted the request at 4 PM Serbian time, or 10 AM Eastern Standard Time. It was delivered at the Mission of Guyana to their political advisor, who is currently presiding over the UN Security Council.

The request was submitted in accordance with Article 35 of the United Nations Charter and Article 3 of the Provisional Rules of Procedure of the UN Security Council. The request draws the Security Council's attention to the current situation in the territory of Kosovo.

As stated in the letter that will be sent separately to all representatives of EU member states and EU institutions, as well as to the presidents and prime ministers of the UN Security Council member states, including Russia and China, and which Kosovo Online had insight into, the situation is in sharp contrast to the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and it is of such a nature that it requires holding a special session of the Security Council.
