Szunyog: Concrete evidence needed regarding the Banjska incident for any measures against Serbia

Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog, stated that all EU member states decided on measures against Serbia, emphasizing the need for concrete evidence regarding the incident in Banjska, Dukagjini reports.

Szunyog, in an interview with "Kallxo Pernime", pointed out that when the EU had decided on measures against Kosovo, there had been a consensus among all EU member states.

He emphasized that member countries needed to see evidence against Serbia regarding the attack in Banjska.

"Again, member states can decide on measures, and it is necessary to reach a consensus of all 27 EU member states," he explained.

He added that the heads of 27 member countries had met in the European Council and reached an agreement on those measures.

"The European Council is a body where the heads of governments of member states meet. They met on June 30 and issued a statement fully supporting the declaration of June 3 and everything else. So yes, 27 member states at the highest level of representation have agreed on these measures," Szunyog said.

He reminded that the EU had specifically asked Kosovo to reduce the presence of special police units near municipal offices and for mayors to perform their duties from alternative locations.

"These were not demands related to the general security situation in the north or the general presence of the police. So, there were two very specific requests that have not yet been fulfilled," Szunyog concluded.
