Todic: The arrival of Krasniqi in Leposavic is another provocation for the Serbs

The former mayor of Leposavic Municipality, Zoran Todic, said that today's visit of the Minister of Local Self-Government, Elbert Krasniqi, to the Leposavic Municipality building was another form of provocation for the Serbs in the north of Kosovo.

He emphasized that Krasniqi's intention had been to hold a meeting with "some councilors and officials" in the building, which, he said, had already been turned into a barracks and military-police base for third week in a row.

"Mr. Krasniqi's intention was to hold a meeting with some councilors or officials, as they say, but we see that reason prevailed and I thank above all the people from KFOR who understood the seriousness of the situation and understood the opposition of the gathered people and that they simply do not agree with this provocation and Minister Krasniqi's intention to hold a meeting in the building. So he left the municipal building and I believe that in the coming period, in cooperation with KFOR, we will avoid such and similar situations from happening at all," Todic told Kosovo Online.

Todic pointed out that fear and uncertainty still reigned among the locals, given that they had heard that the Kosovo Police were preparing to "break up" peaceful protests.

"Tensions and uncertainty still exist among our people because not far from here, according to our knowledge, a large number of Kosovo Police Forces are being prepared in the station, equipped to break up this peaceful gathering of people who have been protesting for the third week in a row, disagreeing with the intentions and decisions of Pristina to bring illegal and illegitimate municipal presidents to this building with the use of force," Todic warned.

However, regardless of everything, as the former mayor of Leposavic says, the citizens will not give up their demands, which is that the "so-called president" and members of the Special Forces of the Kosovo Police leave the municipal building so that the employees who worked in that public institution returned to their jobs and to be in the service of the locals.

When asked how ready KFOR was to protect the Serbs in Leposavic, Todic said that the representatives of the Serbs had spoken today with three officers who were from the Hungarian contingent of KFOR and with the lieutenant colonel, their commander.

"I believe that this time, and as far as KFOR is concerned, the situation was understood adequately. All of this today was hard, but it ended in the best possible way for our people, and the request of these people has been fulfilled," Todic says.
