Trajkovic: They came with automatic rifles, detonations were heard, one colleague ended up in ER

Petar Trajkovic, the director of the Sports Administration in North Mitrovica, whose premises are located right next to the premises of the municipal election commission, into which its Albanian members, accompanied by the Kosovo police, broke into today, says that the situation was very tense at one point.

"Towards the end of the working hours, we heard a crash, a door slam, and then three strong explosions. I looked out the window and saw armed policemen with automatic rifles in their hands, but also armed policemen in civilian clothes. The employees experienced stress from the detonations, especially the women, we had to take one colleague to the emergency room," Trajkovic says for Kosovo Online.

He adds that this way of breaking into someone's premises is reprehensible and that all that could have been organized peacefully.

"All this could have been carried out differently, peacefully and democratically, and not by using bombs and weapons," Trajkovic adds.

When asked whether there had been any announcements that it would come to this, Trajkovic says that there were not.

"We didn't know anything, we were doing our jobs and were at our workplaces until all this happened after working hours," he added.

Trajkovic says that he hopes that such situations will not be repeated in the coming days, given that the premises of the OIK have been demolished, but that there is certainly tension among the citizens of North Mitrovica.

"The offices that were meant for performing the functions of the OIK are not in operation because they were demolished, we will see what will happen," Trajkovic concludes.

The situation in North Mitrovica is currently calm, citizens and employees have dispersed and gone to their homes.
