US Embassy in Belgrade: Ambassador Djuric is right
After the Ambassador of Serbia in Washington, Marko Djuric, told Euronews that America had become Serbia's number one partner when it came to services, that it fought every day to change the bad image of Serbia in the US, and that without the US, Serbia could not in the best way protect its interests, the US Embassy in Belgrade announced on Twitter that Ambassador Djuric was right and that relations between the two countries were getting better and stronger every day.
"Ambassador Marko Djuric is right. Times change and so do our relations, like ours with Serbia, which are getting better and stronger every day. The past is the past, and our focus is on the future," the US Embassy said following Djuric's statement.
Djuric told Euronews that he fought every day to change the bad image of Serbia in the US.
"We are the ones who fight for positive attention, who fight every day to change the very bad image from the 1990s, which was undeservedly formed by our mistakes. And, it can certainly change," Djuric said.
He stated that America had become the number one partner of Serbia when it came to services, an area in which more than 36,000 people were employed in Serbia.
"That figure and the value of that exchange will continue to grow and contribute to our GDP. Far from our relationship being only about the economy. The US is a country that shapes the global flow of the economy, security policy, and everything else, both in our region and globally. Pretending that we can exist and protect our interests without actively acting towards them would directly harm only us," Djuric said.
