US Embassy for Kosovo Online: We want all obstacles to free trade to be removed
The United States of America wanted to remove all obstacles to free trade and to refocus all trade policies on what was most important for the people living in this region, they said for Kosovo Online from the US Embassy in Belgrade, on the occasion of a new campaign to boycott Serbian goods that was launched in Kosovo.
The US Embassy stated that advocating for the removal of all obstacles to free trade was their "long-term position", and that they "believe that this approach has the greatest potential for creating jobs, increasing income, and preventing further brain drain".
In their response to Kosovo Online, the US Embassy emphasized that they welcomed the "Open Balkan" initiative.
"We also welcome the 'Open Balkan' initiative, as well as all inclusive initiatives that encourage greater economic integration. The partners of the 'Open Balkan' state that this initiative will deepen economic integration based on EU rules and standards, and that it will promote stability and prosperity through the free movement of goods, people, capital, and services. Broader economic integration is beneficial for all countries in the region," the US Embassy's response states.
Let us remind you that a new campaign of boycott of products from Serbia was launched in Kosovo, including the boycott of products of foreign and even American companies operating in our country. The website "Bojkoto 860" was also launched, on which, in addition to items from Serbian companies, foreign brands also appear.
The American Embassy in Serbia also reacted two months ago when an influencer of Albanian origin posted a video promoting the boycott of Serbian products on Instagram. Then the Twitter account of the US Embassy in Belgrade published a video in which two people exchange Serbian and American products, thus promoting the free market. The video shows a bottle of Serbian wine and American whiskey behind which, when they are taken from the shelves, there is a bottle of Serbian brandy with the logo of the US Embassy in Belgrade. The video promoted two main messages - an open market and an open mind.
