Vlajic: The arrest of Milenkovic was extremely brutal, and he has nothing to answer for
Lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic said today that the arrest of the trainer of the kick-boxing club from North Mitrovica, Milun Milenkovic Lune, had been extremely brutal and carried out not only with the aim of arresting an individual but also to intimidate the community, Euronews Serbia reports.
Vlajic stated that he had visited Milenkovic yesterday, as well as that he had asked the public prosecutor to present the evidence based on which the arrested had been charged, but that that had not happened.
"Milun did absolutely nothing wrong and he has nothing to answer for. The public prosecutor and politicians in Pristina do not understand that it is the right of citizens to participate in protests. Of course, protests should not be violent, nor were these protests of that kind, nor are protests something that can characterize them. But even if you are present at the scene, that does not make you the perpetrator if you have not done anything wrong," Vlajic explained.
Vlajic stated that today or tomorrow, a hearing had to be held to determine the custody of Milenkovic before the competent judge of the Basic Court in Pristina and that then they would again ask for the evidence for his arrest to be presented.
"Looking at their practice in previous months and years in similar cases, they don't need evidence, they do their own thing, they enforce laws the way they think they should, which is completely anti-democratic," Vlajic told Tanjug.
Vlajic explained that Milenkovic was being charged with three crimes - terrorism, attack on persons under international protection, and violent endangerment of the constitutional order and that according to the public prosecutor, these criminal acts stemmed from the events of a few months ago in front of the office of the Election Commission in Kosovska Mitrovica and from the civil protest that had taken place about two weeks ago in Zvecan.
