Vucic: Even today Pristina acted contrary to the Brussels Agreement; luckily there were no casualties
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said from Tirana that he had been aware of the latest developments in Kosovo and pointed out that the people of Pristina had still behaved contrary to the Brussels Agreement, Pink reports.
"It's good that according to the data so far, we have no victims. As for the timing, I don't know what these people are guided by. It's not clear to me why they want to cause tensions every week. We're not going to have an easy period ahead of us. We stay together with our people in Kosovo and Metohija, but it is also important that we try to agree on everything possible with the Albanians, to preserve the peace. I hope that (Miroslav) Lajcak will have his role today, as he has so far," Vucic said.
As he stated, it was calm at that moment, and he was waiting for a report from the hospital center in North Mitrovica.
"According to the Brussels agreement, Kosovo police officers cannot enter the north without the consent of the four mayors. They did not ask any of the four mayors. They did not ask KFOR either. They tried to break into the municipal election commissions, to occupy the buildings, and the citizens of course rebelled. No one knows why they had to do it, but they wanted to, then there were minor clashes and after that, the Kosovo police forces withdrew," Vucic said.
Regarding the dialogue with Pristina, he stated that Serbia was unequivocal.
"We said what our red lines were and what we would not accept. We want to talk, we are ready to compromise and we will continue to talk," Vucic said and added that Serbia would try to work on some kind of compromise with Pristina.
"We have to discuss the Franco-German plan"
The President stated that the new text of the Franco-German proposal, whuch Belgrade and Pristina received, was not improved, in relation to the previous one, in the matters that were more important for Serbia.
"They did not meet what was requested," he said.
He also answered the question of a journalist from Tirana about the Franco-German plan and the meeting with Albin Kurti.
"There is no doubt that in the future we will work seriously to reach a compromise solution. The real question is not when and where I will meet with Kurti, I will do it when the EU proposes us to. The real question is what will be the content of that compromise solution. We are receiving various messages from different sides about the content of it. We have a pro-Albanian, pro-Serbian side that it was made of the teams of the French and German presidents. We reserved a statement in advance that we should have delivered to the press, but we didn't do it. I can't say that I'm 100 percent against it or in favor of it. We have to discuss that document and then we will see. We have to talk to each other, we have to refrain from unilateral actions, this is something that can harm the whole process, and this is something that we cannot allow. We have to be the guarantor of peace and stability in the region," Vucic said, noting that he does not speak Albanian and that this is a problem with his education.
He pointed out that there could be no time frame.
"You also heard Borrell today. How ridiculous it is that there is a time frame to solve something in three months that we could not solve for 100 years and more. And what if we don't solve it within 3 months, then what? Then, we can only pray to God to extend the deadline for us by another three months. This is frivolous and irresponsible. When you hear that someone insists on deadlines for something, and we are unable to implement the CSM for ten years because one side does not want it, then you ask what they are thinking, so first, the Community for Serb-majority Municipalities should be implemented, and after that, we can talk about something else. So what deadlines are they talking about? It is not written, of course, because people are wise enough and know that it is impossible. But we have to find compromise solutions, in order to save the heads of the Serbs as well as the Albanians, in order to preserve people's lives, and our economy, so that we can move forward. I think that today's meeting was beneficial and healing in that regard," Vucic said.
Regarding Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani's statement that he was guided by political thinking from the past, Vucic said that this was a common story.
"Anyone who is not in favor of recognizing the independence of Kosovo yesterday, I'm saying this metaphorically, that person is a man of the past, those are people who rely on the past, and I guess the people of the future are the ones who would do whatever they want," Vucic said.
As he stated, it was a good thing that Osmani did not add that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered him to go to Tirana since they had been talking for nine months about how Serbia was going to attack everything in the Balkans on Putin's order.
"I spoke the truth at the Summit, without twisting it"
The President of Serbia pointed out that he had been satisfied with the talks in Tirana, as well as that they were extremely honest. As he added, he was lucky that he had spoken at the very end, because he had had the opportunity to hear what he had been thinking, as well as to look at all the situations.
"I believe that not only that there were no mistakes, but that it was good that I was present today in Tirana," the Serbian president said.
As he stated, he had had an excellent conversation with Giorgia Meloni, Mark Rutte, and Alexander De Croo.
"I talked for a long time with Macron, Orban..., almost with everyone to be honest. We talked about many topics, there is a lot ahead of us. Of course, the energy was dominant, and of course, we were the topic because of the non-introduction of sanctions. Everyone agreed that I was honest, I said what I usually say to our people. I spoke in plain language, the truth, realistic arguments, showed documents, and pointed out the facts," the President of Serbia said.
Speaking about the declaration regarding the introduction of sanctions against Russia, Vucic says that the fact is that Serbia did not introduce sanctions.
"I cannot talk about all the details. I said that the attitude towards the sanctions was the attitude towards our people. I said that Russia had imposed sanctions on us, but we had not imposed them. We saw that their sanctions did not bring good to the citizens or the people. Our relations are different on the issue of territorial integrity, on the issue of the energy situation. We have our position, but we understood the EU's messages well. Through the discussion with eight or nine representatives, I understood everything. I explained everything nicely and they thanked me for my honesty", Vucic stated.
