Vucic: I don't expect anything from the meeting on May 2 in Brussels; nobody can deceive and lie to Serbia anymore

Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, said today that the international community had to start seeing Serbia as a partner, stressing that this was the main message of yesterday's elections.

"I want to thank the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija because yesterday they suffered the presence of the occupying forces in the north. Our people showed by the force of their will that they are not insignificant," Vucic said.

Vucic also emphasized that Serbia would vote against Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe and that no one could lie and deceive Serbia anymore, neither from Europe nor from the rest of the world.

Answering journalists' questions about what he expects on May 2 in Brussels, where he will meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President Vucic said that he did not expect anything from that meeting.

He then referred to the comment of the associate of the Center for Geopolitics of the University of Cambridge, Timothy  Less, who praised the boycott of the Serbs and pointed out that the international community could learn something from his statement and "be smarter".

He also referred to Albin Kurti's statement that the turnout in the elections in the north of Kosovo had been low due to pressure from Belgrade and recalled that on the same day, he himself said that the citizens would go to the elections in the afternoon.

"They are not ashamed of the percentage of those who took part, they tell you that we are the occupiers; they rejoice in the fact that no one wants them, and we want to govern just as we are. Kurti says that he congratulated the elected presidents and deputies, they must work dedicatedly and serve without distinction and the institutional system and public services will be able to function more and better for the benefit of citizens and their rights. What do you expect of the statement from Serbia and the Serbian state, after this? What do you expect from the Serbs to do after that and what would any man do after such a statement," Vucic said.

He believes that Pristina has not understood the message and that they think they can deal with the people by resorting to repression and mistreatment of people.

He also referred to the statement of the US ambassador to Kosovo, who assessed that the elections had been held in accordance with the Constitution, to which he said,

"Well, kudos to you, you said that very cleverly".

He reminded that Pristina had not implemented the reached agreements and formed the CSM and added that the Serbian side had participated in the elections in Kosovo four times.
