Vucic: There has been a political uprising of the Serbs in Kosovo

Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, pointed out today that yesterday the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija had demanded a completely different approach from the international community, as well as that a peaceful political uprising of Serbs had taken place.

In his address to the citizens, Vucic said that what he was presenting was not an analysis of the election results, but of the tectonic changes that had taken place yesterday in Kosovo.

"In fact, yesterday was not and our analysis must not be superficial and shallow, as we are always happy to accept and say that what happened was the defeat of Albin Kurti and his regime. Yes, that is unequivocal," he added.

He pointed out that what had happened yesterday was much more than that.

"Yesterday, the Serbs showed that they were looking for a completely different approach, above all from the international community. When I say that, I mean the Western powers. The Serbs are looking for greater respect, dialogue, and real, and not imposing solutions," he said.

Vucic said that these elections also had brought good things and that they had shown how unique the Serbs were and how wrong the international community had been by not supporting them, but Albin Kurti's policy.

"Yesterday, our people said in a referendum and plebiscite which country they live in and who they didn't want in the north of Kosovo, but also showed the world that they didn't understand anything except the fact that they didn't want to listen to anyone but themselves," Vucic said.

The debacle of the Quint and Kurti

Vucic pointed out that the elections in four municipalities in the north had proved the electoral debacle of Kurti and the Quint, as well as all those who had encouraged Pristina by saying that the problem was in criminal organizations in Belgrade.

He also stated that this election result in the whole of Kosovo was historic because it was the first time that elections were organized for one nation and the turnout was 0.029 percent.

"These elections showed the great unity of the Serbs. The Serbs showed discipline and responsibility that was not seen in the recent history of the Serbs. The Serbs showed that they are strong people who showed great determination and the will to cooperate with the occupying Gauleiters. We never presented ourselves so responsible and in an organized manner," the President of Serbia assessed.

He said that yesterday morning in North Mitrovica, people hadn’t even gone out for bread and the streets had been completely empty, while in the afternoon the town, shops, and cafes had been full, concluding that the Serbs thus had sent a clear message - "we are here and you can see there are so many of us and no one will participate in the circus you have organized".

Vucic warned that there was no substantive dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but that "we are already receiving imposed papers that benefit the Quint, which supports Kosovo's independence."

The President of Serbia expressed the hope that some would learn a lesson from this, but that he was not sure that they would be able to see the essential results of this plebiscite determination of the Serbs, which had nothing to do with political parties, nor with Belgrade, but only with the unequivocal desire to remain on their own and protect Serbia.

A new political reality

The result of the election represented, he repeated, a completely new political reality, which many had not understood.

He said that he had been waiting to see what conclusions they would come out with.

"A completely new political reality has emerged in which we will have to behave differently. Whether some others want or do not want, they will have to behave differently. Kurti did not understand, he thinks that he will govern North Mitrovica with 400 votes of people who mostly do not live in Mitrovica and that he will have his occupying Gauleiter. Everything is possible, just don't ask the Serbs for anything," he underlined.

Vucic also referred to the statement of EU spokesperson Peter Stano, who noted that the elections were not good; they did not guarantee anything due to the low turnout.

"He says that the dialogue between the Kosovo Serbs and the Pristina authorities should be accelerated. It means that you did not understand the message of those people. They won't do that. You didn't understand anything from that yesterday," he said.

The Serbs, he says, asked you to hear them, to listen to them, and they begged countless times not to send Special Forces to the north, not to stand at intersections, not to shoot people, and you never wanted to hear about anything.

"When they put up the barricades, you thought it was done by idle people who wanted to harass people. You obviously did not understand the unique message of the Serbs yesterday. That message is that we want our voice to be heard, that you listen to us, and you will not be able to work without us and without what we want," he said.

Vucic said that even though the leaders of the American administration said that they could quickly re-run the elections, they just needed to collect 20,000 signatures, which was not possible because no one can force the Serbs to collect those signatures with a gun, but they want the occupation to be as visible as possible, and not to give credibility and legitimacy to the covert occupation.

"You think they can't wait to get back to the institutions. None of the Serbs want to return. You kicked them out. You haven’t listened to the Serbs for ten years, I kept saying listen to them. You've been talking nonsense for ten years. You lied and deceived us about the conversations we had, and that's why I didn't sign anything," he stressed.

Vucic said that he had been lied to that the CSM had to be fulfilled, and only then should Serbia's obligations be discussed, and that at every meeting, and in the end they asked for Kosovo to be supported in the Council of Europe.

"We won't, there is no chance for that to happen. You removed the obstruction around the Council of Europe in Ohrid from the paper, and it is not in the Implementation Plan. You want only Serbia to fulfill your wishes," he pointed out.

Vucic repeated that yesterday there had been tectonic binding changes for all of us.

"You didn't understand, you never wanted to hear the Serbs, that's why it is our obligation to hear them and talk to the Serbs accordingly. We have to take care of our political environment and the European path so that we can economically survive as a nation and protect our people in Kosovo and Metohija in every sense. It is now becoming a great complicated problem for us in Belgrade. In the coming days and weeks, we will work how and in what possible way we can work to protect the Serbs and the will they showed in a plebiscite to Europe and the world," he emphasized.

The CSM only on the principles signed in 2015

Vucic pointed out that they said that Belgrade was to blame for everything and that the appearance of the police would guarantee security, but in the end, it happened that even the Albanians had not felt that security.

He pointed out that out of more than 43,000 enrolled Serbs, 13 took part in elections.

"Two people by mistake, they don't have a television, thought they were voting for someone else. It is not a realistic number of 13, but 11, which further reduces their percentage," he pointed out.

He said that he had not made a decision yet of whether he would go to the dialogue on May 2nd in Brussels, but that he would probably go and listen to the Management Team.

He underlined that the CSM had to be formed only on the principles he had signed with Isa Mustafa, not to joke around with Serbia about the Kosovo constitution, and after that he expected the occupation forces to withdraw from the north.

"You can't deceive and lie to us in the future. Even in their proposal of the Implementation Plan, even the obstruction of entry into international organizations was after the CSM. If we were to vote for something and they didn't fulfill anything, we won't. If a dictator won’t allow you, replace him," he underlined.

Vucic said that he trusted his people because he had felt and seen everything.

In the elections in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo - North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic, and Zubin Potok, 1,566 Albanians and only 13 persons of Serbian nationality voted.
