Vucic: Kurti is provoking, wants to turn us against NATO before the elections in the USA

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that Albin Kurti is provoking with his actions because his time is slowly running out, attempting to incite conflicts and turn Serbia against NATO before the U.S. elections.

"Kurti is provoking because his time is slowly running out, and he wants to incite conflicts before the elections in the USA. He wants to prevent any significant changes in the White House and the American administration and, before that, to turn us against NATO and vice versa. He is very nervous," Vucic told reporters in Belgrade.

He pointed out the difficult situation Serbs in Kosovo are facing, but also emphasized that Kurti's political position is not as simple as it was a year or two ago.

"We must be serious, rational, and firm in our determination to preserve Kosovo and Metohija within our borders. I know it is difficult for our people, but when someone says that it is the result of some policy... No, it is the result of violence," the Serbian president underlined.

He reminded that there are signed agreements regarding postal services and telecommunications, which, according to Quint countries, have been brutally violated and broken.

"They don't react more harshly because they are protecting their own," he said.

"But, I hope that tomorrow KFOR will react appropriately, that they will close the bridge and prevent the influx of Albanians, because I saw that Bahtiri, on Kurti's orders, has already scheduled a counter-rally in response to the Serbian gathering on the other side of the bridge," Vucic said.

He reiterated his belief that KFOR will manage to ensure peace and protect Serbian lives.

"I know how difficult it is for our people, and I hope they won't put us in a position where we have to react, because that would be a disaster for us. But sometimes you are put in a position from which you cannot escape. But, I believe we still can," Vucic concluded.

Ustase Greetings Are Not New – Better Relations with Croatians, but We Do Not Forgive Crimes

Commenting on the fact that Croatia marked the anniversary of Operation Storm with the salute "Ready for the Homeland," Vucic noted that every year on this date Serbia mourns while Croatians celebrate.

He also remarked on Croatia boasting about acquiring new "Rafale" jets, adding that Serbia has things to boast about as well and might soon showcase new "Rafales."

However, he noted, "we don't always have to show everything."

Regarding Ustase greetings and songs, Vucic observed that this is nothing new or surprising, but stated that Serbia will have to work on improving relations with Croatia, even though it will never forgive the crimes against Serbs.

"To be completely fair and to set aside my personal burden due to what happened to my family and the burning of all houses in 1992, we will have to build better relations with Croatians in the future; the sooner we sit down and talk, the better. Will it be an easy process? No. Will we apologize for the crimes in Jasenovac and support silence on this issue? No, we won't," Vucic stated.
