Vucic: Long and important talks with von der Leyen tomorrow 

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that tomorrow he would have very long talks with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

"We will have talks tomorrow throughout the day and throughout the evening. Apart from the official talks, and what we announce publicly, we will have talks privately and after dinner about important issues for Serbia", he said for TV Happy.

Vucic pointed out that the situation was very complicated and difficult, but that he believed that he saved Serbia, despite the fact that even today no one can feel good, because that is impossible as long as terror is perpetrated against the Serbian people in Kosovo.

He pointed out that there would still be many difficult things and difficult decisions, but that the authorities knew what they were allowed to do, for how long they were allowed, and that in everything it was important that the country moved forward.

The president said that they were trying to preserve the interests of Serbia, but at the same time improve the economy and economic growth.

He pointed out that when it comes to Kovovo, there would always be pressure from abroad.

"Will we always be under that pressure? Well, we will be. For 10-11 years, I have heard how I recognized the independence of Kosovo. And you forget that in 2008 Kosovo declared independence. And you forget that these are not the same conditions as before 2008. Yes we endured for eight months so that you get the Nobel Prize for endurance, not 11 years or more than 11 years," he stressed.

There are veiled threats to Serbia, Croatia is always in favor of punishing our country

Vucic, answering the question of what the fight for Serbia looks like during the negotiations, stated that he would never convey who exactly said what, but that these were never threats to him personally, but veiled threats to Serbia.

"They know that I know what we have to lose. They know that I know how important investments are to us, and they play that card," said Vucic, adding that he would do the same in their position.

He added that interlocutors from the international community sometimes pretend not to see what, he is sure, they see well.

"I don't understand that they don't understand how important it is for Serbia to have peace in the region, that Serbs are not persecuted in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina... One of the people even said to me - why are you sitting with Dodik... That was a question I was not ready for, because I think it goes without saying. The remark is that it's not a good picture to eat a hamburger with him... My answer had nothing to do with the menu or the food. You don't believe it when you hear such remarks and statements," Vucic said.

He pointed out that Croatia was a country that has always been in favor of punishing Serbia.

"Croatia, part of the Scandinavian and part of the Baltic countries, have always been in favor of punishing Serbia. But never as fiercely as Croatia and sometimes Bulgaria," noted President Vucic.

When asked how it is possible for someone from Serbia to be in favor of punishing his country, he noted that auto-chauvinism is "a serious disease among Serbs".

Illustrating with the example of unity in Israel, after the attack of Hamas, or the unification of the Arabs, despite the differences, when the Palestinians were attacked, he stated that only Serbs had a pathological desire for the country to be less important, to serve someone else.

"But that is not a characteristic of the Serbian people, but of a small part of the people... Most people understand that, and that is why I am proud of the policy of an independent and sovereign Serbia. Why they need to work against Serbia, I will never understand," underlined the president .

Vucic said that by voting for any party from the opposition, whether they present themselves as pro-European or right-wing parties, you are voting for Dragan Djilas, for independent Kosovo, for Serbia to impose sanctions on whoever they tell it to do.

As he states, it is a legitimate political position to recognize an independent Kosovo, but it is harmful and bad, and he reminds that the former government asked to wait for the elections to pass and for Boris Tadic to win, and then to recognize an independent Kosovo.

"There is no program, their ideology is their money," said Vucic.

When asked to comment on the fact that a dirty election campaign is expected, as well as the fact that research shows that 86 percent of attacks are directed at him, Vucic says that according to data on social networks, more than 80 percent of negative content is against him, and less than 20 percent is against everyone others together.

"It's not something that a person complains about. Did I choose whether I would be someone who would make decisions or be passive observer - I prefer the former because that way I could do something," said Vucic.

He points out that all the programs of the opposition are that "Vucic is a fool, a jerk" and points out that during the current government, 147 hospitals were built and repaired, while during the former regime that number was zero. He also reminds that in the last few years, 108 kilometers of high-speed rail were built, 807 kilometers were reconstructed, and that they repaired 31.5 kilometers. When it comes to highways, 445 kilometers were built during the SPP government, and 42.6 kilometers during the former regime.

It has never happened that the report on Kosovo was not voted on in the parliament

Vucic also pointed out that it has never happened in history that a report, declaration or resolution of any authority on Kosovo was not voted on. He notes that it seemed to him as if "some hand came" and ordered for the Report not to be voted for.

He recalls that when he came to the Parliament to discuss Kosovo, the opposition representatives behaved inappropriately and "tried to lynch".

"It was a lynching attempt. I sat quietly, saw them, they jumped, howled, threw things, shouted, whistled, used vuuzelas. It doesn't even matter. The bottom line is that today they promise to go together," said Vucic.

We will erect a monument to Istvan Pastor - he pulled the Serbian and Hungarian people out of the jaws of conflict with his strength

Vucic expressed regret over the death of the President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina and SVM leader Istvan Pastor and pointed out that he greatly contributed to the improvement of relations between Serbia and Hungary.

He emphasized that his death is a great loss for Serbia and noted that recently during a private visit Viktor Orban told him that Pastor was ill and in a serious condition, which surprised him.

"I express my condolences to the whole family, the Hungarians in Serbia, his friends and Viktor Orban. It is a great loss for Serbia. He is the man most responsible for creating Hungarian-Serbian brotherly relations. He will go be remembered in history and Serbia will erect a monument to him, the right one he deserves", Vucic said.

Pastor, he says, is a man who pulled the Serbian and Hungarian people out of the jaws of conflict with his energy and strength.

"I am grateful to him for his support and love for Serbia and the Hungarian people. It is a big blow for us," concluded Vucic.
