Vucic: No playing around regarding CSM; Serbia will fulfill its part only when Pristina fulfills its obligation
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today that there should be no playing around regarding the Community of Serb Municipalities and that Serbia will keep its word and do its part only when Pristina fulfills its obligation.
At a press conference with the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tobias Billstrom, Vucic stated that it was often said that it was important to start the process of forming the CSM.
"The situation is such that you should form the CSM with substantial authority, and when you do that, Serbia has always kept its word and will fulfill its part of the job. There's no playing around. Only when you fulfill that obligation will we fulfill ours," President Vucic said.
Vucic said that Serbia might do something unilaterally as a sign of goodwill, but that it had nothing to do with Pristina's obligation.
"That's an obligation that existed since April 19, 2013, and it wasn't signed in February or March," he emphasized.
Vucic pointed out that obligations must be fulfilled to avoid ending up like with some other agreements that had led to wars because some had considered them only transitional and to buy time.
"We in Serbia may be stupid, but not that much. We had the opportunity to learn from world events. When you fulfill your obligation, then we will eagerly start working to fulfill what we publicly promised," Vucic emphasized.
Vucic told his guest that Serbia would fulfill everything it had said but would not support Kosovo's membership in the UN and its specialized bodies.
The Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Vucic on the agreement reached in Ohrid and said he expected all provisions and annexes to be implemented immediately.
