Vucic with Peach: Serbia is committed to preserving peace; the formation of the CSM is a key issue
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with Great Britain's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Stuart Peach, and informed him of Serbia's position regarding the current situation in the region, especially in Kosovo.
"I emphasized that Serbia, as always until now, remains sincerely committed to preserving peace in the region, as evidenced by the numerous initiatives of regional integration, the initiator of which is our country," Vucic said on Instagram "buducnsotsrbijeav".
Vucic emphasized that the key issue for Serbia remained the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, as Pristina's assumed and accepted obligations in accordance with international agreements, as well as the safety of the Serbs in Kosovo, for which he expected the full support of the United Kingdom.
Vucic stated that in his conversation with Peach, he had pointed out the increasing number of incidents and unilateral moves by Pristina that essentially threatened the safety and survival of the Serbs and non-Albanians in Kosovo.
President Vucic, as stated in the press release delivered to the media, emphasized that Serbia was committed to preserving peace and stability in Kosovo and Metohija, which it had shown in crisis situations caused by Pristina's unilateral moves.
He pointed out that Belgrade was ready to continue the dialogue with Pristina, in order to reach a compromise solution, in which the security of the Serbs in Kosovo was the key point.
He also pointed out the necessity of respecting and implementing previously signed agreements.
President Vucic also pointed out that our country highly valued the important role of KFOR in preserving peace, stability, and protection of the Serbs in Kosovo, in accordance with Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council.
Lord Peach, as stated in the statement, said that the United Kingdom supported the dialogue process, which was being conducted with the mediation of the European Union.
Vucic and Peach emphasized the importance of the presence of KFOR as a guarantor of security.
Congratulating Special Envoy Peach on his appointment to the House of Lords, President Vucic thanked the Government of the United Kingdom for the support and financial assistance it provided to Serbia, especially through the Good Governance Fund.
President Vucic and Lord Peach exchanged opinions on bilateral cooperation and ideas for its improvement, especially in the fields of defense, energy, and science.
