Vucic: Serbia has shown its responsibility, but I am worried about the Serbs in Kosovo

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said today that the talks in Brussels had lasted for five hours and that, among other things, he specifically had talked about the withdrawal of Kosovo's Special Forces from the north.

Answering questions from journalists, Vucic added that various topics had been on the table during the meeting.

"In these five hours of conversation, you have to understand that we cannot talk about everything, they talk to me, then they talk to Kurti, then the two of us, then they talk again to Kuri, then to me. I brought them all that has been happening since June 3, since the joint statement of all EU members," Vucic said.

He added that he was not in Brussels because he needed an election campaign.

"My emotions are such that I am primarily concerned. I am not dissatisfied, I am somewhat satisfied that Serbia has shown its responsibility, constructiveness, and desire to approach compromise solutions, which are not ugly, but a decent word," Vucic said.

He added that after everything he had heard, he was even more worried about the Serbs in Kosovo and that he expected the EU's reaction in a short time.

He reminded that in Leposavic and Zubin Potok, on this very day, Albin Kurti's party councilors had made a decision to join the Association of Kosovo Municipalities.

"It's a circus show, it's very bad, and you Albanian journalists, who know very well how you thought or how you felt 20 years ago, that now you think that this is okay and normal, it doesn’t go like that. You can put on paper whatever you want, everything can be written on the stall. Leposavic will belong to the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, as well as Zubin Potok, North Mitrovica, and Zvecan, in accordance with the Brussels Agreement," Vucic underlined. 

He pointed out that it would always be necessary to talk and that the media would always hear the answer from him about who was responsible for what had to happen.

"It's important for us, I'm sure, that we have to keep talking," he pointed out.

Asked about new EU measures against Kosovo, Vucic said:

"I'm not Albin Kurti who says that you should use the whip against Serbia, I don't want that for the Albanians in Kosovo, or anyone else, that's not my principle."

Vucic added that he did not attack those who could not defend themselves and that the new measures were an issue for the EU.

"I'm happy that I'm such a star in Pristina and I can answer all the questions. I'm learning many languages, but I don't know Albanian yet," Vucic said.

When asked by a reporter from Kosovo Online for a comment on the words of the head of the Foreign Policy Committee of the parliamentary group Alternative for Germany, Petr Bystron, who criticized the chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael Roth, Vucic said that out of decency, he would not speak about it at this time, but that there would be opportunities.

"Everything he did was directed against dialogue and in many ways against Serbia," Vucic said.

He repeated that all municipalities with a Serb majority, and four northern ones and six more would be a part of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.
