Vucic: Serbia spoke with facts about the problems in Kosovo, Kurti responded with personal insults

After the UN Security Council session, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that Serbia's messages had been substantive, clear, accurate, responsible, and serious, while Albin Kurti had responded with personal insults. He noted that it was fortunate that they had lacked more serious arguments.

"In the end, you saw an argumentation based on personal hatred, on lies about opposition leader Sandulovic, EP resolutions, and various other nonsense, about the genocide we have been committing since Garasanin. This is the kind of argumentation when you cannot respond to the arguments related to the CSM, attacks on both Stojanovics, on Dragisa Galjak, when you cannot address why you are harassing employees in Serbian clinics, health centers, and municipalities, what kind of robust democracy it is when the turnout is three percent. Then you have to resort to personal insults, and it's good that they showed it, that they lacked more serious arguments," Vucic told reporters.

As he said, he is satisfied with what was heard at the session, considering how many countries have recognized Kosovo's independence.

"The most critical against us, before a detailed analysis, were the UK and Switzerland, those two countries. I was surprised by the fair approach of France, Algeria was exceptional, as were China, Russia, Ecuador, even Mozambique, Korea, Sierra Leone, and fair Malta, which recognized Kosovo's independence," Vucic said.

As he emphasized, what is important is that Serbia spoke with facts about the problems in Kosovo.

"We won't be able to transport the dinar tomorrow, but our people need to know that we will fight and we will go the Serbian libertarian way because you have people with attitudes, you have people with pride, a libertarian spirit. Perhaps these are small things for some, but they make a huge difference, and that was seen tonight, and that is why I am proud of our Serbia, which behaves responsibly and proudly, preserves its libertarian spirit, protects its country, and its future," Vucic concluded.

When asked what Serbia gained from today's session, Vucic said they had had an open session where their arguments, which had not been without facts or substance, could be heard, something many had not wanted to hear for a long time or had not wanted to hear at all.

He said that the US representative had stated that the Security Council was not the place for Kosovo talks, but the EU was, adding that it was because some had previously made that decision.

"Although I was told that I would never ask for a Security Council session, I still requested it. I am grateful to everyone for accepting to hold the session and for having an open session. They only hear what Kurti says, they could never hear our argumentation. Today, Serbia fought here, not Aleksandar Vucic. I did my best," he stated.

Vucic mentioned that he had come to New York by regular flight and had an hour to put on a suit and come to the session, preparing his speech on the plane.

"Whichever way you look at it, today is a small but significant victory for Serbia," he concluded.

Asked if it was possible to continue the dialogue, he said it was possible, but that the issue of the CSM needed to be resolved once and for all.

"The CSM issue has been standing for 11 years. Kurti did not even mention the CSM, he won't mention it. Everyone protecting Kurti mentions Banjska. I'm not dodging answering that question, but Kurti avoids mentioning the CSM," he added.

Vucic mentioned that German Minister Boris Pistorius had said that Serbia had parallel structures in Kosovo, adding that they were not because they were provided for by the CSM agreement and that Serbia must finance the community according to EU statutes.

"We invested enormous effort and energy. I fought and risked my career. I know I have said many things that someone did not like. I am proud that we did our best. Whether the result is the best, I don't know, but we did our best. We will fight for our people in Kosovo and Metohija. They don't have to worry. There may be technical problems for a few days. Serbia will never abandon its people and will always stand by them," Vucic assured.
