The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today that it is not true that Serbian institutions are not functioning in Kosovo and pointed out that two of the most important ones, healthcare and education, are operational, RTV reports.

Responding to journalists' questions at the start of his visit to Podrinje, he said that he would visit Kosovska Mitrovica as early as tomorrow if international forces allowed him.

"Going there is not a matter of my choice but their decision," he said, adding that he would visit not only Kosovska Mitrovica but also all of our settlements and villages in Kosovo, Tanjug reports.

He mentioned that he is very sad and unhappy about what is happening in Kosovo and because he sees that some do not want peace, adding that he does not want to give them the opportunity to participate in the persecution and expulsion of our people.

As a positive note, he mentioned the numbers showing that at the beginning of the new school year in Kosovo, 1,081 first-graders out of a total of 9,700 elementary school students had enrolled in schools operating under the Serbian education system.

"That is not a small number, given the situation we have there," Vucic said.
