Vucic: We have nothing to do with what happened on the Ibar, Pristina knows this too
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that Belgrade has no connection to the events in northern Kosovo that resulted in damage to the Ibar-Lepenac canal, and that Pristina is well aware of this, RTV reports.
Vucic made the remarks during a discussion with young people at the SNS forum "Youth of Serbia: Traps and Opportunities," advising them, particularly those involved in politics, never to act under pressure.
“Let me teach you one more thing, especially those of you in politics: never, ever give in to street pressure. Never. Not just for today, but for the future. Never. Whenever there is a campaign of harassment or persecution against someone, step aside and don’t participate in it. Make your decisions when it passes. Never make decisions out of fear. Never make decisions under pressure. What do you think? Why didn’t I rush at six in the morning to declare that Serbia had nothing to do with what happened on the Ibar-Lepenac? You know, we could have done that and redirected the river up there; no terrorism needed. Why should I justify myself to anyone?” Vucic said.
He added that Pristina knows Serbia was not responsible.
“Why should I justify myself, chase after global media, or apologize for something I didn’t do, especially when they will interpret it however they want anyway? That is why I always take my time. In the end, everything falls into place. What matters is that you work, fight, and believe in yourself, as well as set high standards. I might let tomorrow pass me by, that would be wrong,” Vucic emphasized.
On the evening of November 29, an explosion occurred in the Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo, damaging the Ibar-Lepenac canal, which supplies water to several cities in the region and to the Kosovo Energy Corporation for cooling its thermal power plants.
