Ziadeh: Avoid unilateral actions that risk escalating tensions

The Head of UNMIK in Kosovo, Caroline Ziadeh, expressed concern over the actions of the Kosovo Police in northern Kosovo, calling for the avoidance of unilateral moves that risk escalating tensions.
"The Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Ziadeh, is concerned about the closure of Serbia-funded facilities in northern Kosovo, including the Sports Hall in North Mitrovica, which has long supported the development of sports and youth, as well as actions targeting water supply companies in North Mitrovica and Zubin Potok—due to their potential impact on the well-being and livelihood of the community," stated UNMIK in a post on social media platform “X.”
Ziadeh therefore urges avoiding unilateral actions that further undermine trust between communities and Kosovo authorities or risk escalating tensions.
She emphasized the need for all outstanding issues to be resolved through EU-facilitated dialogue.
