Serbian Ministry of Culture: KP operation a continued attempt to steal Serbian cultural heritage
The Serbian Ministry of Culture strongly condemned yesterday’s raid by the Kosovo Police on the premises of the City Museum in North Mitrovica, emphasizing that the raid represents a continuation of ongoing attempts to steal Serbian cultural heritage and institutions that serve as undeniable testimony to the history and truth about Kosovo.
The Ministry stated that, after previously forcefully entering the premises of the Institution for Sports, Youth, and Specialized Services, the Sports Association, and the Cultural and Artistic Society “Kosovski Bozur,” the perpetrators, acting on behalf of Pristina, have continued to usurp everything Serbian, solely with the aim of rewriting history and intimidating the Serbian people into abandoning their centuries-old homes in Kosovo.
“This shameless act of terror aimed at erasing traces of Serbian culture and terrorizing the Serbian people in the southern province of the Republic of Serbia is a continuation of the persistent attempt to steal Serbian cultural heritage, institutions that are irrefutable evidence of the history and truth of Kosovo and Metohija. The brutal systemic persecution of the Serbian people through the seizure of Serbian territory and cultural legacy is yet another form of the ongoing efforts by the fabricated Kosovo nation to erase traces of Serbian identity and heritage. The usurpers fail to understand that cultural heritage cannot be stolen, and that law and identity cannot be built through violence and changing locks. Heritage is created through centuries of creativity, not moments of hatred,” the statement reads.
The statement stresses that culture does not stem from barbarism.
“The Ministry of Culture remains committed to the fight for the preservation of heritage, rights, and the truth about the centuries-long history of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija as an inseparable part of the territory of the Republic of Serbia,” the statement concludes.
