Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the UNMIK Mission, Caroline Ziadeh, emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation of tensions in northern Kosovo and called on Belgrade and Pristina to return to political dialogue.

Today, Ziadeh met with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, in Belgrade, after which she called for restraint in both messages and actions.

"She called for transparency in investigations and accountability regarding the events of September 24," UNMIK's statement said.

As further added, during her two-day stay in Belgrade, Ziadeh would meet with Serbian leaders and representatives of the diplomatic community ahead of an upcoming meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Kosovo.

"Additionally, Ziadeh will submit a report to the Security Council later this month," according to the UNMIK statement.
