Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, spoke today in Belgrade with UN Under-Secretary for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh about the progress of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and stressed that for this it was necessary to implement the commitments, above all the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also discussed Serbia's contribution to world peace through participation in peacekeeping operations and improving cooperation with the UN.

Also, there was talk about the importance of continuing the engagement of the UNMIK Mission on all issues of importance for the consistent implementation of Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, as well as the current security and political situation in Kosovo and Metohija, especially in the context of the latest incidents which, as emphasized in the announcement, further increase tensions.

The topic of discussion was the perspective of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

"The head of the Serbian diplomacy, Ivica Dacic, pointed out that Serbia was committed to dialogue as the only way to solve current problems, but that the essence laid in respecting what had been agreed upon. In this context, he emphasized that the implementation of the undertaken obligations was necessary, first of all, the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, even though 10 years had passed since the signing of the Brussels Agreement," the announcement states.

Dacic confirmed Serbia's readiness to continue to be a significant participant in UN peace operations, thereby contributing to the building of peace and security in the world.

Lacroix praised the participation of representatives of Serbia in missions under the mandate of the UN and, above all, the quality and professionalism of their engagement.

The interlocutors expressed the expectation that the good cooperation would continue in the future.
