Long lines formed again today outside the Postal Savings Bank in North Mitrovica, where citizens from the labor market, as well as mothers with children, attempted to collect social assistance, parental benefits, and child allowances that were deposited for them but were unable to do so because there were no dinars available.

Following the decision of the CBK, which came into effect on February 1, regarding the prohibition of payment transactions in dinars, on two occasions (February 7 and 14), vans transporting dinars from the NBS were prevented from passing through Jarinje, resulting in a shortage of dinars in Kosovo.

As one of the mothers who came to collect social assistance pointed out, going to Raska is not a solution for her.

"I am a single mother. The only income I have is social assistance. I have been waiting for days to provide basic necessities for myself and my children. Going to Raska is not a solution because it incurs additional costs for us," she says.

The same is said by other mothers, who emphasize that their basic rights are endangered because they cannot collect child and parental benefits.

As noted by one of the citizens of North Mitrovica, his only source of income is social assistance, which is now denied to him.

"We cannot go to Raska because of the expenses. Social assistance means a lot to us; we live off of it. I would ask for this to stop because if we cannot collect social assistance, we cannot survive," he said.
