With the consecration of the monument to the Milic brothers on the square of the same name in North Mitrovica, today, in front of hundreds of citizens, 24 years since the beginning of the bombing of the FR Yugoslavia were marked.

Wreaths were laid at the monument dedicated to the brothers tragically killed during the bombing of the FR Yugoslavia, by the assistant director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Borislav Tajic, the president of the Provisional Authority of the municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica, Aleksandar Spiric, and representatives of the Serb List.

As part of the cultural and artistic program, the life of the Milic brothers and their suffering were shown.

Addressing the gathered citizens, Aleksandar Spiric said that there were no winners in any war, that bombs did not choose gender, age, or nationality, and that our children were among the dead.

"We stand in front of the monument of the three peonies, from which even today tears of blood flow for their forcefully extinguished youth. Their feat will live on in us and we will never forget them. From the West, we received the most painful expression we have ever learned, "collateral damage". And today in difficult times, thanks to our country, we will preserve our identity, unity, and the colors of our flag," Spiric told the crowd.

Borislav Tajic, on behalf of the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that on this day 24 years ago, the FRY had been attacked under the pretext that it had been to blame for the failure of the negotiations at that time.

"The decision to bomb us was made without the approval of the UN Security Council. During the bombing of 19 countries of the NATO alliance, 2,500 civilians were killed, including 89 children, 6,000 civilians were wounded, including 2,700 children, and 25 people are still missing today. There is almost no city that was not the target of a NATO attack. Faced with the ruthless evil of terror in Kosovo and the airstrikes, force directed without regard for law and justice. The silence and non-judgment of the attack on a sovereign country continue today. No one is held accountable for the crimes, we will not forget 2,500 lives. Today, we gathered next to these monuments and symbols of the suffering of our people to honor all the innocent Serbian victims who laid down their lives in the defense of their homeland. Today, we proudly remember our resistance in an unequal struggle," Tajic said.

According to him, the ultimate goal – Kosovo without the Serbs has not and will not be achieved.

"Serbia today is such that it will never again allow them to kill our children and expel us, as our president has repeatedly told us," Tajic said.
