Bozidarevic: Celebration of the Orthodox New Year in Gracanica with a roasted ox on a spit and good entertainment
In Gracanica, on Saturday, January 13, the traditional celebration of the Orthodox New Year will be organized on the Liberation Square, with roasted ox on a spit, mulled wine, and Serbian brandy, along with a rich cultural and entertainment program.
Dejan Bozidarevic from the non-governmental organization "Gracanica Youth Initiative" emphasized to Kosovo Online that Gracanica had been celebrating the Orthodox New Year traditionally on the square for 23 years.
"We can expect a good time. On this occasion, I invite all citizens of goodwill, not just our Orthodox ones, to come to Liberation Square. The program starts at 9 PM on Saturday, January 13. As every year, we will have a roasted ox on a spit, mulled Serbian brandy, and wine. A novelty this year is that we have Santa Claus's mailbox, where children have been putting their wishes and letters. The live draw will be on the same evening, and on Sunday, we will visit the winners drawn and bring them gifts with Santa Claus. We invite all citizens to come and enjoy, this is a significant event for us", Bozidarevic said, one of the organizers of the New Year's celebration on the Gracanica square.
Although low temperatures are forecasted for the Orthodox New Year's celebration, Bozidarevic is confident that it won't deter the residents of the municipality of Gracanica from welcoming the New Year on the square.
"I hope the wine and Serbian brandy will warm us up a bit, along with good entertainment. We have a cultural and entertainment program; Sloba Vasic and Lena Colak will entertain us, and our local band and DJ will be present, so there is a good cultural and entertainment program for all generations", Bozidarevic said.
For the "craziest night" in Gracanica, the local band "Vecita Dilema" and DJ Ares will also perform.
