Mother of the Milic Brothers: Organizing the tournament is a provocation, like going to a cemetery to hold a concert

Nada Milic, the mother of twins Srđan and Boban who were killed during the NATO aggression in 1999, as well as of Goran—who, she says, died of grief for his brothers—stated that organizing a 3x3 basketball tournament in North Mitrovica, in the immediate vicinity of the square named after the Milic brothers, is the same as if someone went to a cemetery to hold a concert.

Nada Milic stressed that the sole purpose of the tournament is provocation.

“I have been deeply upset since I heard it was going to be organized. Until now they hadn’t organized anything, but now I am too distressed—I don’t even know what to say. This is disrespect for the dead, who are not buried there, but whose memorial stands there. It is as if they went to a cemetery to hold concerts, music, instead of bowing with respect before the souls of all the fallen, they organize celebrations. The space is small and I don’t know how they will even manage it—this is purely to provoke,” said an upset Nada Milic.

Near the Milic Brothers Square in North Mitrovica, a 3x3 basketball court was set up today for the tournament organized by the Municipality of North Mitrovica.

The planned tournament has met with disapproval from Serbs in the north, who view the event as a provocation and yet another form of pressure on the Serbian community.

Earlier, Milan Radojevic, member of the Presidency of Srpska Lista, told Kosovo Online that organizing a tournament on a square dedicated to young men innocently killed in the 1999 war is a mockery of Serbian victims and innocent people who perished.
