Rector Arsic: The State of Serbia stands by the University, we are ready for the enrollment of a new generation of students
The University of Pristina temporarily seated in Kosovska Mitrovica has announced a call for enrollment of a new generation of students, with 1,170 state-funded places and more than 600 self-financed places available across 39 study programs. Rector Nebojsa Arsic emphasizes that this year is particularly challenging due to political circumstances, but stresses that the State of Serbia firmly stands by the University and that, thanks to such support, conditions have been secured for the new academic year to begin on time and under optimal study conditions.
Arsic points out that preparations for the enrollment of the new generation of students began several months ago.
“We began preparations for the enrollment of new students several months ago through extensive activities and consultations with all faculties, alongside a series of measures aimed at promoting and attracting a new generation of students. We organized several activities such as ‘Open Doors’, the Education Fair, while all faculties conducted several rounds of visits to all secondary schools gravitating toward our University, as well as schools in other parts of our country,” Arsic explained for Kosovo Online.
He added that this year is exceptionally challenging with regard to the enrollment of a new generation of students, bearing in mind the political circumstances under which classes are being conducted.
“Despite everything, I believe that, thanks to good preparations and the normalization of the situation, we will succeed in attracting a significant number of students. Compared to the previous year, we expect approximately the same level of enrolled students. We will see more clearly after the first enrollment period,” the Rector stressed.
Arsic stated that the University has announced a competition for enrollment in the first year of undergraduate academic studies.
“The enrollment period begins with the submission of applications from June 15 to June 26, entrance examinations will be held from June 30 to July 3, and everything must be completed by July 13. We have 1,170 state-funded places and more than 600 places for self-financed students. We offer 39 undergraduate study programs, which means there is a wide range of options available to our future students. It is up to them to decide and choose one of our ten faculties,” Arsic said.
Speaking about study conditions, Arsic stressed that the University, together with the Student Center, offers students quality conditions and the most affordable tuition fees.
“In addition to the quality we offer and the study conditions, there is also the Student Center, whose capacities closely follow the University, and this is well known to everyone familiar with its work. This makes us competitive in terms of conditions, alongside low tuition fees compared to other faculties and universities. We truly have competitive prices, ranging from 18,000 dinars at the Faculty of Agriculture to 100,000 dinars at the Faculty of Arts, while all others fall within that range. Mitrovica is a city of youth, a city of the future, and I invite all students who believe that they can build their future with us through the education acquired at our faculties to come and follow the enrollment and study conditions at our University, and we will gladly welcome them to become part of us over the next four or five years,” Arsic emphasized.
As he stated, in addition to educational challenges, the University is also faced with political challenges over which it has no influence.
“Instead of dealing solely with what is our job — ensuring the best possible infrastructural conditions — we also have to deal with certain political issues, and that is something beyond our control. Nevertheless, we adapt and strive, under all these circumstances, to remain competitive and provide the best possible conditions. The State of Serbia firmly stands behind us, and without that support we would not be able to achieve anything. We are grateful for that, and thanks precisely to such support, together with our efforts and dedication, I believe we have created the conditions to welcome this generation of students in the best possible circumstances and to guarantee that the next academic year will begin on time and under optimal conditions for the education of a new generation of students,” the Rector stated.
Arsic further emphasized that the University is highly active and successful in the field of international projects and cooperation.
“We have many students participating in international exchange programs who are currently studying at European universities. Our professors and associates also take part in international exchanges at European universities. We are extremely active in domestic projects as well, in cooperation with local companies. Some new activities are also being planned, and all of this demonstrates that we are not engaged solely in educating students, but are also very active in scientific and research work. We are active members of the international university community in Europe and of many other associations, and together with our students we are doing everything to ensure that this University is widely recognized not for the political circumstances in which it operates, but for the results it achieves,” Arsic concluded.
