Vasic: Investigative actions in Sladjan Trajkovic's case postponed to February 16
In the Special Court in Pristina, investigations were scheduled for today and the next two days in the case of Sladjan Trajkovic, who was arrested for an alleged war crime. However, as the defendant's lawyer Dejan Vasic said, the hearings were postponed to February 16.
"A little while ago, we received very unpleasant news from the prosecutor's office that the next three hearings that were supposed to be held today, and on the 8th and the 9th, were postponed to February 16th. Until now, we were not allowed to participate in those investigative actions at all and were thus deprived, as the suspect himself, of the elementary rights to the defense that follow him under the Kosovo criminal procedure," Vasic said.
Vasic adds that he will ask the court that Trajkovic gets transferred to house arrest.
"We will appeal again. We appealed to the Court on Friday with one request – that his further defense takes place under house arrest, there are conditions for that, and it would not be a measure that would be an exception but a rule for those suspects who have their residence in the territory of Kosovo and who live there with their families. The defense will not present data during the investigation phase, we want to relieve the prosecution of the pressure in this way, and we will conduct investigations without informing the public, as the law requires," Vasic said.
Sladjan Trajkovic's family members gathered in front of the Special Prosecutor's Office today to support him. They appeal that Trajkovic is transferred to the Clinical Hospital Center in North Mitrovica for treatment.
