Suzana Trajkovic, the wife of Sladjan Trajkovic, who was arrested in mid-December and accused by the prosecution of an alleged war crime, appealed today for allowing Sladjan's treatment at the Clinical Hospital Center in North Mitrovica.

She called on Pristina's judicial authorities to allow Sladjan to defend himself from freedom.

"My husband has been in custody for almost two months, and his health condition has significantly deteriorated due to the conditions in which he is being held. He is in really bad shape due to chronic diseases. I appeal primarily to Pristina's judicial authorities that Sladjan defends himself from freedom like all others, both Serbs and Albanians, who were allowed to defend themselves from freedom for the same criminal acts that he is charged with," Suzana Trajkovic says for Kosovo Online.

Suzana points out that she visited Sladjan two days ago, that his health condition suddenly worsened, and that he did not use his therapy for eleven days.

"I am addressing the public and the European community. It's high time for this to be taken care of. Sladjan was without therapy for eleven days, on Wednesday they took the pills we bought and took there. The wounds on his head appeared again, his whole head is covered in wounds, and even the wound on the soles of his feet has not been treated. He does not have any conditions for treatment. Even the nurse, who is Albanian, argued with the guards and the warden of the prison precisely because of those pills," Suzana told us.

In her opinion, Sladjan should be treated at the Clinical Hospital Center in North Mitrovica because the doctors there are familiar with his illness.

"Please act. This is our last cry for Sladjan to be allowed to be treated at the Clinical Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica because the doctors are familiar with his case. He was already treated there for liver cirrhosis, water in the lungs, and high blood sugar," she stated.

Lawyer Dejan Vasic, who represents the arrested Sladjan Trajkovic, said earlier today that due to Trajkovic's worsening health condition, he would urgently request a measure of house arrest.

Sladjan Trajkovic was arrested on December 15 in Bosniak Mahala in North Mitrovica. He is charged with an alleged war crime against the civilian population. The Basic Court in Pristina extended his detention for another two months in mid-January.
