Veseli: KSF members are increasingly leaving the service due to the bad economic situation

Former Kosovo Security Force (KSF) colonel Afrim Veseli said that an increased number of his colleagues leaving the service should be an alarm for the authorities, Ekonomia online portal reported.

Veseli added that there had been cases of leaving the KSF before, but recently the number of members leaving had increased significantly, which represents a security risk, according to him.

"The departure of KSF members creates a huge gap in the organization because the reception of new members and their training takes time, which poses a security risk," Veseli said.

Veseli believes that the main reason for leaving KSF is of an economic nature and adds that salaries were even lower when he was in the service.

"We worked without pay for one year, and then for nine years, we received 200 euros each. The ideal of creating an army and the state kept us going. The new generations are different now. Salaries were increased in 2009, and they were good then, but with the current inflation, salaries of KSF members became very low," Veseli noted.

He added that the Salary Law did not set satisfactory coefficients for the KSF members.

"I am not satisfied with the salary increase level because KSF members must have a dignified salary, and the current salary of 500 euros is very low. A soldier should be calm and not think about his survival," Veseli underlined.
