Vlajic: Todosijevic's rights have been violated; we will appeal to the Supreme Court

Lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic, the defense attorney for the president of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Zvecan, Ivan Todosijevic, confirmed for Kosovo Online that his client had received an invitation to report to the detention center on Monday, April 3, to serve his prison sentence, without having previously been served with a verdict.
Vlajic says that this shows that it is more important for those who punished Todosijevic that he goes to prison than that his rights are respected.
“The basic right is to receive a verdict that needs to be executed, and only then a summons to serve the sentence. He received a summons to serve the sentence seven days ago, and he received the verdict only today," Vlajic said.
He pointed out that all legal means for Todosijevic's defense had not been exhausted yet, because they were to be submitted only after the verdict had been handed down.
"We will submit a request for the protection of legality to the Supreme Court of Kosovo, which has already accepted such a request of ours once, and we expect it to happen this time as well," Vlajic emphasized.
Vlajic reminds that the Supreme Court annulled the previous judgment against Todosijevic and sent the process back for a retrial. He expects that this time too, the decision of the higher courts will be the same because, as he emphasized, one did not go to prison for a verbal delict, since it did not belong to the category of criminal acts.
Let us recall that the Judicial Panel of the Basic Court in Pristina sentenced Todosijevic, in a repeated proceeding, to one year in prison for the statement about Racak, which the court assessed as inciting hatred, discord, and intolerance.
