The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization has sent a letter to the former U.S. Special Envoy for the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue, Richard Grenell, demanding a review of the trials of the defendants before the Specialist Chambers, a financial audit, and an independent investigation into the functioning of the court, Koha reports.

In their letter to Grenell, the veterans called for the closure of the Specialist Chambers, stating that they are “a disgrace to American justice and American values.”

“Honorable Ambassador, we are addressing you not as politicians, but as veterans addressing another veteran. Brothers in arms. Defenders of freedom. We are asking you to raise this issue with your administration. American taxpayers have not sent their hard-earned money to Europe to fund a court that violates the values on which America was built. President Trump is rewriting the outdated rules of political control over independent justice, and under these new rules, this court must be closed. It is a disgrace to American justice and American values. We demand a full review, a financial audit, and an independent investigation into how this court operates and how its officials live like kings while our freedom fighters are kept in cells just for defending it,” the letter states.

The veterans added that the Specialist Chambers have lost their purpose and have become a political weapon. They called on Grenell and the administration of President Donald Trump to put an end to “this witch hunt.”

The KLA added that veterans helped build democratic Kosovo by “turning fighters into citizens.”
“We have previously faced justice (before the Hague Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia), and we did not run. Our leaders voluntarily stepped down to prove the purity of our struggle, because when justice is fair, truth prevails. And the Specialist Chambers? This is not justice. This is a witch hunt, a weapon to silence patriots. It is this very court that has become a tool to silence those who brought peace, stopped genocide, and defended freedom,” the letter reads.

According to the KLA, the accused in The Hague are being silenced, and “this is not justice, but a staged political trial.”

“If freedom has meaning, if justice is not just a word but a principle, then this cannot be tolerated. We fought against Milošević to stop exactly this kind of abuse. And we will speak out again. America stood with us when we needed it most. And now we ask you again—do not allow this court to write a false history. Do not allow corrupt elites to turn veterans into villains instead of helpers—again,” the KLA wrote.
