The President of the Kosovo Business Alliance, Agim Shahini, emphasizes that the situation in the Middle East has had a global economic impact, warning that inflation in Kosovo exceeds six percent and that, with the announced price increases, citizens may soon find themselves unable to survive.

Shahini notes that prices surged sharply following the crisis stemming from developments in the Middle East.

"The crisis between Iran, the United States, and Israel has altered the global economy as a whole. We have clear evidence that all prices have increased—fuel, electricity, food products, and transportation of goods—and this will directly affect inflation. Since the beginning of the year, inflation has been above six percent, and when we speak about Kosovo, which has a lower development capacity and where poverty is widespread, an inflation rate of six percent has a significant impact on the daily consumer basket," Shahini told Kosovo Online.

He also warns about the announced increase in electricity prices.

"When the price of electricity rises by 20 percent as of April 1, as announced by the Energy Regulatory Office, we will reach a situation in which citizens will not be able to survive," Shahini concluded.
