Prenkaj: The United States has shifted its focus in the Western Balkans toward Serbia, while Kosovo remains self-isolated

Former diplomat Albert Prenkaj has said that Kosovo should view the launch of the U.S.-Serbia Strategic Dialogue as a strategic turning point. According to him, Washington has shifted its focus in the Western Balkans toward Serbia.

At the same time, Prenkaj criticized Kosovo's foreign policy, describing it as inconsistent and incompetent.

"Kosovo should regard this as a strategic turning point. The relationship is moving away from the friendly engagement of the country that sponsored Kosovo's freedom and independence to a stage where this major project for Kosovo—its strategic partnership with the United States—is effectively being put on hold. The signing and continuation of the strategic partnership dialogue encompass fundamental issues, including economic and energy cooperation, as well as security and defense. This demonstrates that the United States has directed its focus and attention in the Western Balkans toward Serbia. Meanwhile, Kosovo remains self-isolated as a result of an inconsistent and incapable foreign policy. I would go even further and describe it as a charlatan foreign policy," Prenkaj said.
