The Court of Appeals in Pristina has rejected the defense appeals against the Basic Court’s decision ordering one month of detention for nine Serbs from Zubin Potok suspected of a “war crime against the civilian population.”

Attorney Jelena Krivokapic, who represents Miroslav Radojevic, stressed that the defense had received the decision only in Albanian.

“Our appeals against the decision of the Basic Court in Pristina ordering detention have been rejected. Once we receive the decision in Serbian, we will know what is stated in the reasoning,” Krivokapic said.

On September 29, the Basic Court in Pristina ordered up to 30 days of detention for the nine Serbs from Zubin Potok. Prior to that, they had twice been placed in police custody for up to 48 hours.

Their lawyers subsequently filed appeals, requesting that they be allowed to defend themselves while at liberty and proposing house arrest or other alternative measures to ensure their presence in the proceedings.

Kosovo Police arrested the nine Serbs from Zubin Potok on September 27.
