Lawyer Petkovic: My client is charged with overthrowing Kosovo's Constitutional order
Fourteen workers from the Interim Administration of Strpce responded to police summons in Urosevac. Boban Petkovic, lawyer for the accused Z.J., confirmed to Kosovo Online that his client is suspected of overthrowing Kosovo's constitutional order and that after giving a statement, he returned home.
Lawyer Petkovic points out that on Friday, July 12, near the end of the working day, 14 workers from the municipal administration of Strpce, which operates under the system of the Republic of Serbia, received summonses for questioning at the police station in Urosevac. The summons did not specify the charges against them.
"Specifically for my client, the alleged offense is overthrowing the constitutional order or unconstitutional activities. When we asked for an explanation of these unconstitutional activities, the police officer stated that since the employees were working under Serbian laws, which automatically, according to his interpretation, are against Kosovo's laws, all these actions are considered unconstitutional. According to the police statement, they informed us that the Prosecutor's Office for Serious Crimes in Pristina authorized them to take statements regarding their claim that the actions were against Kosovo's constitutional order,” Petkovic said.
Petkovic also emphasizes that they have not received any information from the Kosovo Police regarding the continuation of the proceedings.
The interim administration of the municipality of Strpce was closed on July 7, 2022, following a raid by special units of the Kosovo Police, who took all the documentation from the building.
