Lawyer Dejan Vasic, representing arrested Srecko Sofronijevic from Zvecan, confirmed to Kosovo online that his client has been detained for 48 hours due to events from October 13, 2021, when he was injured by the Kosovo Police.

Vasic stated that today Srecko Sofronijevic attempted to cross the Brnjak administrative crossing with his family for a vacation when he was stopped by the police and taken to South Mitrovica for questioning, upon the order of the Special Prosecutor's Office in Pristina.

"This is related to the events of October 13, 2021. At that time, he was seriously and severely injured due to the unrest that occurred. I am sure that this is a misunderstanding and a mistake that will be quickly proven by the investigation. He has been detained for 48 hours," he said.

The lawyer adds that during this period, it will be determined whether the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office will seek an extension of the detention or if Sofronijevic will be released home.

"He is not worried; he knows very well where he was that day and knows he has done nothing wrong that could be subject to criminal prosecution. I expect that the Special Prosecutor's Office will not seek an extension of detention and that he will be released to his family," emphasizes Vasic.

Sofronijevic is suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Attempted Murder," "Incitement to Resistance," "Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer," "Unauthorized Possession of Weapons," "Participation in a Crowd Committing a Criminal Offense and Hooliganism," "Destruction or Damage to Property."
