The election promises made by political parties are being met with mixed expectations among Pristina residents interviewed by the Kosovo Online team. Some believe the promises will be fulfilled, while others think that, as has happened many times before, most of them will remain merely part of the campaign.

Yusuf Islami emphasized that politicians should be careful about what they promise during campaigns.

“The most important thing, although it is not exactly a promise, is the formation of institutions. The rest are promises, but whether they will be fulfilled is another question. Everyone makes promises, but they should promise only what can actually be achieved, not just things said for the sake of the campaign,” Islami said.

One of his fellow citizens is skeptical that the promises will be fulfilled.

“Nothing will be fulfilled, just like last time,” he is convinced.

Nexhmedin Lapashtica does not like the programs offered by politicians.

“No politician is talking about the economy or building factories. They only talk about how they will spend money. I do not support anyone. Instead of building factories and creating jobs, they are thinking about how to spend money,” Lapashtica said.

Uka Gandi does not hide his doubts that anything will change.

“Like all politicians, they make promises, but they do not fulfill more than 20 to 30 percent of what they promise,” he said.

Another Pristina resident says that after the elections, nobody will remember the promises that were made.

“Everyone is making promises now, but this is an election campaign. As soon as the elections are over, nobody will remember them,” he said.

Safet Gashi, on the other hand, believes that the past four years were good and that the next four years will be as well.

“The past four years were the best, and I think the next four years will be the same. They will be the best for all citizens of Kosovo. The most important thing is that people have their rights, the right to work, and the right to self-determination,” Gashi said.

Igbala Ahmeti also believes that the promises made will be fulfilled.

“They will be fulfilled, everything will be fine. Citizens need to have all their rights, good salaries, good pensions, and to live normally like everyone else. I believe that will happen,” she said.
