Analysts: US Embassy ignoring Kurti a sign of deteriorating relations

The US Embassy is organizing a discussion on the Community of Serbian Municipalities tomorrow, and according to political analysts, the fact that Prime Minister Albin Kurti is not invited to this event is an indication of deteriorating relations, Dukagjini reports.

Political affairs expert Arbnor Sadiku says this ignoring is a clear message from the US to Kurti.

"The ignoring of Prime Minister Albin Kurti by the US Embassy is proof that the Kosovo side is not the one cooperating with Quint in reaching an agreement on the CSM, and at the same time, it is a warning that the US can really create a Community in Kosovo even without the Self-Determination and Albin Kurti," Sadiku points out.

Belgzim Kamberi from the "Musine Kokalari" Institute said that if there was no Government representative at the discussion on the CSM, it would prove that there had been a deterioration in communication.

"It also proves that the pressure to implement the CSM will continue. It remains to be seen whether relations between the US and the Kosovo Prime Minister are deteriorating or not," Kamberi said.

According to Professor Dritero Arifi, the meeting organized by the US is an indication that the Government is running away from responsibility.

"We see this as a kind of Government of Kosovo's escape from responsibility. In a way, all the powers regarding the CSM have been handed over to the US Embassy. The US took this issue seriously in order to finish this point of the Brussels Agreement so that we can go to the final agreement," Arifi explains.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated last week that he was not invited to the meeting on the CSM that would be held at the US Embassy.

Political parties' representatives, civil society representatives, and diplomats were invited to the meeting.
