Antonijevic: A militarized zone is being created in northern Kosovo, which does not suit anyone who wants to live there
After each incident caused by the Kosovo police forces, there is, unfortunately, a sense among Serbs in northern Kosovo that living conditions are unbearable, and when you look at it, a certain number of families decide to move to other municipalities in Serbia, as lawyer Milan Antonijevic says in an interview with Kosovo Online.
Antonijevic believes that this "quiet pressure" from Pristina's institutions is intensifying, affecting basic things such as healthcare and the inability to deliver medicines.
"Also, there's the inability to transfer dinars, so you can't deliver dinars to northern Kosovo through the open crossings. These are all issues that people dealing with northern Kosovo warn the international community about. We've really tried to appeal for normalization, especially when it comes to trade, the removal of these pressures, and further militarization. We see that contrary things are happening, with new police stations being built in the north, indicating the creation of a militarized zone, which doesn't suit anyone who wants to remain in the north, and that needs to be clearly stated," our interlocutor stated.
He emphasizes that we need to focus primarily on economic development and cooperation.
"There must be a complete social, healthcare, and every other form of protection, especially security, which has been repeatedly compromised over the past year and more, with extremely negative signals sent towards Serbs in Kosovo," Antonijevic said.
