Antonijevic: Removing Cyrillic signs in northern Kosovo is an unnecessary humiliation of the Serbian community
Lawyer Milan Antonijevic says that removing old and installing new signs with the names of places in northern Kosovo is an open and unnecessary humiliation of the Serbian community in Kosovo.
"This is truly an open and unnecessary humiliation of the Serbian community in Kosovo," Antonijevic wrote on the "X" platform.
With the assistance of the Kosovo Police, workers hired by the Ministry of Infrastructure have started today to remove signs in Cyrillic script and to install new ones - in Albanian and Serbian languages, but in Latin script.
So far, the names of settlements have been written in Cyrillic, and now new signs are being installed in their place.
Members of the Kosovo Police are accompanying the workers moving from Rudare towards Jarinje.
The workers are removing signs with the names of places where the names were previously written in Cyrillic, and then in Latin script in Serbian. New signs are being installed with the name of the place written first in Albanian, and then in Serbian, but in Latin script.
