In Leposavic today, Milivoje Bojic was taken in for questioning at the local police station following a report allegedly filed by Emran Gushani, who claims that the Municipality of Leposavic and the Government of Kosovo have allocated to him the apartment currently occupied by the Bojic family.

The Bojic family states that the apartment they moved into last year was allocated to them by the Serbian Government’s Commissariat for Refugees, that they fully furnished it, and that they moved in legally. However, according to Ivana Bojic, daughter of the detained Milivoje, the situation has now become extremely uncertain.

“We have a valid reason to be here today, because my father was taken in for questioning this morning regarding the apartment. On the other hand, that same apartment was allocated by the Kosovo government or the Municipality of Leposavic to Emran Gushani on September 1. He allegedly received some sort of usage contract, and we were told that they would come today to evict us. Of course, they didn’t, but we were waiting for them — we’re completely confused and don’t know what to do,” Bojic said.

The family claims that they have filed several complaints to the competent institutions, but have not received any response so far.

“We’ve submitted two complaints, but received no reply. Despite that, the apartment was allocated to another person, and that’s why my father was brought in for questioning today,” Ivana Bojic added.

According to her, the family is now living in great fear and uncertainty, as they have been given a ten-day deadline to vacate the apartment, while weather conditions are worsening.

“We don’t know where we’ll go if they evict us. It’s already cold, snow is coming soon. We have nowhere to go and no one to turn to,” Bojic said.

As a reminder, last year in Leposavic, displaced families were moved into 40 newly built apartments financed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia through the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. The keys to the apartments were handed over by the representative of the Commissariat for Refugees, Sladjan Radosavljevic.

However, over the past year, residents claim that they have repeatedly received calls and warnings from the Municipality of Leposavic — where the mayor is Lulzim Hetemi — to leave their apartments. Out of the total 40 apartments, one has already been seized, while three more are reportedly in question.
