Analyst from Skopje Petar Arsovski stated that the European Union enlargement topics dominated the Brdo-Brijuni Process summit in Durres.

Arsovski told Kosovo Online that the discussions were largely focused on enlargement, considering the initiative on qualified majority voting for technical issues within the enlargement process, and, of course, the Growth and Development Plan, which for most EU member states is the main project aimed at advancing the Balkans toward the EU in the coming period.

Considering that this initiative was designed to help resolve bilateral disputes among member states, Arsovski noted that many disputes remain “stuck.”

"Most bilateral disputes are stuck by their nature and dynamics, especially the one between North Macedonia and Bulgaria, so the focus on mechanisms that could unblock them, such as qualified majority voting, is the real mandate of this forum," he said.

The next Brdo-Brijuni Process meeting will be held in Croatia.
