Qelaj: Implementation of Law on Specialist Chambers will face challenges

Kosovo Ombudsperson Naim Qelaj assessed that the implementation of the amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers could encounter difficulties, with numerous legal dilemmas and unresolved questions concerning its relationship with the Specialist Court in The Hague.

“It is not that I consider myself an authority who knows exactly what the position of this law is in relation to the Hague Court, but based on the analyses of others that I have reviewed, as well as my own analysis, it appears that there will be problems with the implementation of this law. It is up to the MPs, those who represent us, to decide what laws they will adopt. It remains to be seen how things will unfold,” Qelaj said, Teve 1 reported.

He said that Kosovo was facing a situation fraught with dilemmas and unresolved questions.

Qelaj announced that he would organize a workshop on October 14 to discuss the Ombudsperson’s findings concerning the Specialist Chambers.
