Bajrami: Because of Kurti, the US is questioning its partnership with Kosovo

Former Kosovo Minister of Finance, Hykmete Bajrami, stated that for the first time in history, the United States had questioned its partnership with Kosovo.

"Kosovo has been under EU sanctions for 231 days, Kurti accepted the Community, the Government violated the Constitution seven times, and the country has been without a chief prosecutor for 663 days. After three years of the Self-Determination Movement government, 160 nurseries have not been built. Five homes for the elderly have not been built either. Nor have 4,000 apartments for young couples been built or initiated," Bajrami wrote on Facebook.

She added that after three years, there had been no infrastructure projects, and none of the major roads had been completed.

"Look at the road to Podujevo, the road to Pec, the road to Gnjilane - they are where they were three years ago. Despite having lower energy prices in the last two years, the price has doubled. Our country has experienced enormous inflation; today, the prices of basic consumer baskets are 50 percent higher. They did not remove the VAT as promised. The lives of citizens have become difficult, with 26,000 people added to the list of the impoverished. Citizens finance their consumption through loans and overdrafts, as evidenced by CBK data. There has been a decline in exports and private investments," the former minister noted.

She says that there have been no salary increases except for the government's cabinet, no fiscal policy, nor reforms to improve the business environment.

"This is double the property tax for citizens and businesses. There is no health insurance, no essential medicines, and hygienic conditions in our hospitals, and the truth is that waiting lists for some medical services are very long," Bajrami stated.

She emphasized that corruption existed, as in the case of Martin Berishaj, the case of Nagip Krasniqi, and a series of other cases where the government defended them and prevented the courts from doing their job.

"Moreover, the latest State Report of the European Commission states that only last year, 2,140 contracts were signed through direct negotiations, worth over 78 million euros. There is nepotism; there is no institution that is not under the influence of party and family militia. A large number of institutions are vacant or operate with fictitious personnel. In the last three years, the Government has allocated 825 million euros in subsidies, without any criteria, without effect, and without passing through the State Aid Commission filter because that Commission has not existed since the Self-Determination Movement came to power," she emphasized.

She also pointed out that Kurti had promised to strengthen trade unions, but they had actually fought against them and had illegally cut off their funding.

"The minimum wage is as it is because the law is unconstitutional. There is no verification in the judiciary because they had bad intentions; they wanted to achieve justice, which is why this reform is stuck. There is no early retirement for police officers and no dignified treatment for any category serving the state, so the people of this country are fleeing. The new path is the only path, and our time is coming," Bajrami concluded.
