Former President of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Nemanja Bisevac, stated that during the campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kosovo, as well as in the months leading up to the official start of the campaign, he expects an increase in nationalist rhetoric from all Albanian parties.

"We have seen intensified nationalist rhetoric since Self-Determination came to power, and as the elections approach, we expect it to increase in every way. We anticipate even greater pressure on the Serbian people. Naturally, the Serbian people have reasons to be both scared and worried. This intensified rhetoric will not only come from Self-Determination as the ruling party, but I also believe it will come from all Albanian parties, and unfortunately, I believe it will also come from certain Serbian politicians who will try to score cheap political points by attacking the state of Serbia," Bisevac told Kosovo Online.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has scheduled the elections for the Kosovo Assembly for February 9, with the campaign set to begin on January 7, according to the Presidency's announcement.

Bisevac added that Albanian parties in Kosovo see anti-Serb rhetoric as an opportunity for easy political points, but he warned that it might not all end with just statements.

"They obviously see some easy, quick, and cheap points in this, but I think that in addition to statements, they will also try to take concrete actions, especially concerning the north, to show that they have full rule of law there, creating a hostile atmosphere for the Serbian community. Unfortunately, this will not bring any good to anyone in the north or to the entire Serbian population across Kosovo," Bisevac pointed out.
