Blazic: Building houses for minorities in the north is another model of Kurti's "quiet storm"
Marko Blazic, a researcher at the Center for Social Stability, tells Kosovo Online that the Pristina government's plan to build 200 houses in the north is yet another attempt by Albin Kurti to carry out a "quiet storm" against Serbs.
"There is certainly a reason for concern, especially since Albin Kurti has been at the helm of the provisional institutions in Pristina. It is clear that he is implementing this model of a 'quiet storm' to achieve his ultimate goal, which is an ethnically pure Kosovo and Metohija," he stated.
He adds that Kurti's current focus is on the north and that the announcement to open the bridge over the Ibar River is precisely in service of "achieving full occupation of Kosovo."
"The illegal bases that are being built, and now we also see the announcement of the construction of 200 houses for non-Serbs, again in Serbian areas, are all, I emphasize once again, in service of the occupation of the north to create an atmosphere of fear among Serbs so that they would eventually decide to leave their centuries-old homes, enabling Albin Kurti to achieve his goal of an ethnically pure Kosovo and Metohija," Blazic said.
He notes that there is ongoing discrimination aimed at altering the ethnic composition of these municipalities, specifically in the north of Kosovo.
He also assesses the decisions of the Privatization Agency, which has been allocating properties previously used by Serbs in tenders to Albanian businessmen from south of the Ibar.
"I believe this is a violent process, and if we look at it, every such process is accompanied by the presence of strong Kosovo police forces, the so-called Kosovo security forces, which, according to the Brussels Agreement, should not be present in the north of Kosovo and Metohija without the approval of representatives of the Serbian community," Blazic said.
He adds that these moves artificially present a semblance of coexistence, but they actually have a single objective.
"That objective is to carry out the Albanization of northern Kosovo and Metohija, the occupation of northern Kosovo, with the ultimate goal of forcing Serbs to leave their centuries-old homes. Every step you look at is precisely in service of that. We can now chronologically review many of these unilateral actions taken by Albin Kurti, all of which have the same ultimate goal: the departure and expulsion of Serbs," Blazic emphasized.
