British Embassy in Pristina: Parties should respect the Constitution and conduct constructive campaigns

The British Embassy in Kosovo has called on political parties to respect the laws and the Constitution, and to conduct the upcoming election campaign in a constructive manner.

The embassy told Kosovo Online that it had issued the same call for respect for the law ahead of the previous elections.

“We note that parties attempted and failed to reach an agreement on the election of a new President of Kosovo, and as a result Kosovo will hold new general elections. As with other recent elections, we continue to encourage all parties to act in accordance with the law and the Constitution and to campaign in a constructive and respectful manner,” the embassy in Pristina stated.

Political parties failed to reach an agreement on the president by Tuesday, which is why Kosovo is heading to early elections for the fifth time within a period of 16 months.
